DAVID BYRNE: TINY DESK CONCERT
David Byrne has a long history of staging elaborate live shows, often with a sprawling cast of musicians, highly choreographed dancing and unusual instrumentation. So when we learned he wanted to have more than a dozen performers at the Tiny Desk, playing everything from cello, saxophone and marimba to a Brazilian timbau and zabumba (not to mention various guitars and keys), we weren't sure we'd be able to fit it all in.
It turns out his latest tour, for the album Who Is The Sky?, is well designed for our roughly 10 by 11-foot space. Though Byrne and his band do normally spread out across large stages, the set design for each show is almost completely bare, without any cables or amps, and the artists wear or carry compact, custom-made instruments to make it easier to move, almost like a marching band.
It's cozy, but Byrne and his band, in matching, brilliant blue suits, squeeze behind the Desk to perform four songs, opening with the euphoric "Everybody Laughs," followed by "Don't Be Like That," both from his new album. They also perform two Talking Heads songs: "(Nothing But) Flowers," from the 1988 album Naked, and a show-stopping version of "Life During Wartime," from 1979's Fear of Music.
It was a bucket-list performance for the Tiny Desk. Afterward, as the rest of the band and crew dispersed, Byrne hopped on a rented bike for a solo ride through the District on a beautiful, fall afternoon.

TRIBUTE TO KRAFTWERK BY RODOLPHE BURGER AND JULIEN PERRAUDEAU

TITLE: GEORGE MICHAEL - MISS SARAJEVO
Is there a time for keeping a distance
A time to turn your eyes away
Is there a time for keeping your head down
For getting on with your day
Is there a time for Kohl and lipstick
A time for cutting hair
Is there a time for high street shopping
To find the right dress to wear
Here she comes
Heads turn around
Here she comes
To take her crown
Is there a time to walk for cover
A time for kiss and tell
Is there a time for different colors
Different names you find it hard to spell
Is there a time for first communion
A time for east 17
Is there a time to turn the mecca
Is there a time to be a beauty queen
Here she comes
Beauty plays the crown
Here she comes
Surreal in her crown
Is there a time for tying ribbons
A time for Christmas trees
Is there a time for laying tables
When the night is set to freeze
Composers: Adam Clayton / Brian Peter George Eno / David Evans / Laurence Mullen / Paul David Hewson

GARY NUMAN - MY NAME IS RUIN (OFFICIAL VIDEO)
When they called me broken, I knew
When they called me evil, I knew
When they called me ruin, I knew
I would always find my way to you
When I begged forgiveness, they knew
When I begged for mercy, they knew
When I begged for nothing, they knew
I would always find my way to you
My name is ruin
My name is vengeance
My name is no one
And no one is calling
My name is ruin
My name is heartbreak
My name is lonely
My sorrow's a darkness
My name is ruin
My name is evil
My name's a war song
I'll sing you a new war
My name is ruin
My name is broken
My name is shameless
I'll tear your world open
When I called you poison, you knew
When I called you shameful, you knew
When I called you liar, you knew
I would always find my way to you
I'll show you ruin
I'll show you vengeance
I'll show you no one
And no one is calling
I'll show you ruin
I'll show you heartbreak
I'll show you lonely
A sorrow in darkness
I'll show you ruin
I'll show you evil
I'll sing you a war song
I'll sing you a new war
I'll show you ruin
I'll show you broken
I'll show you shameless
I'll tear your world open

LADY GAGA “ABRACADABRA” LIVE ON THE STERN SHOW
Lady Gaga brought a brand new version of her hit song “Abracadabra” to the Stern Show during her recent interview with Howard Stern.
ABRACADABRA (lyrics)
Abracadabra, abracadabra
Abracadabra, abracadabra
Pay the toll to the angels
Drawin' circles in the clouds
Keep your mind on the distance
When the devil turns around
Hold me in your heart tonight
In the magic of the dark moonlight
Save me from this empty fight
In the game of life
Like a poem said by a lady in red
You hear the last few words of your life
With a haunting dance, now you're both in a trance
It's time to cast your spell on the night
"Abracadabra, amor-ooh-na-na
Abracadabra, morta-ooh-ga-ga
Abracadabra, abra-ooh-na-na"
In her tongue she said, "Death or love tonight"
Abracadabra, abracadabra
Abracadabra, abracadabra
Feel the beat under your feet, the floor's on fire
Abracadabra, abracadabra
Choose the road on the west side
As the dust flies, watch it burn
Don't waste time on a feelin'
Use your passion, no return
Hold me in your heart tonight
In the magic of the dark moonlight
Save me from this empty fight
In the game of life
Like a poem said by a lady in red
You hear the last few words of your life
With a haunting dance, now you're both in a trance
It's time to cast your spell on the night
"Abracadabra, amor-ooh-na-na
Abracadabra, morta-ooh-ga-ga

In her tongue she said, "Death or love tonight"
Abracadabra, abracadabra
Abracadabra, abracadabra
Feel the beat under your feet, the floor's on fire
Abracadabra, abracadabra
Phantom of the dance floor, come to me
Sing for me a sinful melody
Ah, ah, ah
Ah, ah, ah
"Abracadabra, amor-ooh-na-na
Abracadabra, morta-ooh-ga-ga
Abracadabra, abra-ooh-na-na"
In her tongue she said, "Death or love tonight"

PET SHOP BOYS - LOVE COMES QUICKLY (LIVE AT THE ROYAL ARENA COPENHAGEN 2023)
Sooner or later
this happens to everyone
to everyone
You can live your life lonely
heavy as stone
Live your life learning
and working alone
Say this is all you want
but I don't believe that it's true
'cause when you least expect it
waiting round the corner for you
Love comes quickly
whatever you do
you can't stop falling
Love comes quickly
whatever you do
you can't stop falling
You can live a life of luxury
if that's what you want
Taste forbidden pleasures
whatever you want
You can fly away to the end of the world
but where does it get you to?
'cause just when you least expect it
just what you least expect
Love comes quickly
whatever you do
you can't stop falling
Love comes quickly
whatever you do
you can't stop falling
I know it sounds ridiculous
but speaking from experience
It may seem romantic
and that's no defence
love will always get to you
Sooner or later, sooner or later
this happens to everyone
to everyone
You can fly away to the end of the world
but where does it get you?
Love comes quickly
whatever you do
you can't stop falling
Love comes quickly
whatever you do
you can't stop falling

DEPECHE MODE - WAGGING TONGUE (VINEGAR HILL SESSIONS)
WAGGING TONGUE
You won't do well to silence me
With your words or wagging tongue
With your long tall tales of sorrow
Your song yet to be sung
I won't be offended
If I'm left across the great divide
Believe me, they will follow
Just to watch another angel die
Watch another angel die
You won't do well to darken me
With your secrets and your lies
With your piercing code of silence
Relax, enjoy the ride
I'll meet you by the river
Or maybe on the other side
You find it hard to swallow
When you watch another angel die
Watch another angel die
Another sun is rising
Another day has come
You can find me, I'll be waiting
Until the day is done
I won't be persuaded
Kiss your doubts goodbye
Everything seems hollow
When you watch another angel die
Watch another angel die
Watch another angel die
Watch another angel die
Watch another angel die
Watch another angel die
Composers David Gahan / Martin Gore

DEPECHE MODE - HEROES (HIGHLINE SESSIONS VERSION)
HEROES
I, I will be king
And you, you will be queen
Though nothing will drive them away
We can beat them, just for one day
We can be heroes, just for one day
And you, you can be mean
And I, I'll drink all the time
'Cause we're lovers, and that is a fact
Yes we're lovers, and that is that
Though nothing will keep us together
We could steal time just for one day
We can be heroes for ever and ever
What d'you say?
I, I wish you could swim
Like the dolphins, like dolphins can swim
Though nothing, nothing will keep us together
We can beat them, for ever and ever
Oh we can be Heroes, just for one day
I, I will be king
And you, you will be queen
Though nothing will drive them away
We can be Heroes, just for one day
We can be us, just for one day
I, I can remember (I remember)
Standing, by the wall (by the wall)
And the guns, shot above our heads (over our heads)
And we kissed, as though nothing could fall (nothing could fall)
And the shame, was on the other side
Oh we can beat them, for ever and ever
Then we could be Heroes, just for one day
We can be Heroes
We can be Heroes
We can be Heroes
Just for one day
We can be Heroes
We're nothing, and nothing will help us
Maybe we're lying, then you better not stay
But we could be safer, just for one day
Oh-oh-oh-ohh, oh-oh-oh-ohh, just for one day
Composers Brian Eno / David Bowie

THE CURE - CLOSE TO ME (ACOUSTIC VERSION)
CLOSE TO ME
I've waited hours for this
I've made myself so sick
I wish I'd stayed
Asleep today
I never thought this day would end
I never thought tonight could ever be
This close to me
Just try to see in the dark
Just try to make it work
To feel the fear
Before you're here
I make the shapes come much too close
I pull my eyes out
Hold my breath and wait
Until I sha-ha-ha-hake
But if I had your faith
Then I could make it safe and clean
Oh if only I was sure
That my head on the door was a dre-ea-eam
I've waited hours for this
I've made myself so sick
I wish I'd stayed
Asleep today
I never thought this day would end
I never thought tonight could ever be
This close to me
But if I had your face
Then I could make it safe and clean
Oh if only I was sure
That my head on the door was a dre-ea-eam

AIR PLAY "MOON SAFARI" - ROYAL ALBERT HALL
A stereo binaural Dolby Atmos mix
